Normally we just steam broccoli on the stove and enjoy it plain – it’s so good on its own. But adding lemon, butter and a dash of salt makes it even better.
- 2-3 heads Broccoli
- 1 tbsp Butter
- 1 Lemon
- Kosher Salt
Here’s what I did:
Boil a large pot of water. Cut the broccoli into bite-sized pieces and add to the boiling water. Cook for two minutes until the broccoli turns bright green and softens a bit.
Take the broccoli out of the boiling water and put into a bowl of ice water for a few seconds. This will cold shock the broccoli to stop the cooking process.
Lay the cold broccoli on a towel to dry until you are ready to finish this dish in the pan.
Melt the butter in a sauté pan over medium high heat. Add the broccoli and cook until al dente.
Zest the entire lemon and sprinkle over the broccoli. Top with the juice of the lemon and a sprinkle of kosher salt. Serve hot.
A few notes, FYI:
To make this quicker, steam the broccoli instead of boiling and sautéing. Add the lemon zest and juice, but omit the butter.
